Colony collapse disorder is a serious issue that has been happening throughout the world over the few years. Whole entire bee colonies are disappearing and scientists are having trouble finding the exact cause. Our project was to read scientific articles on the subject and then take bee colony statistics and graphing the, to see the problem. Next we put best fit lines to map out where the numbers might go in the future.
Some of the numerous causes include frequent relocation of bee colonies, climate change and pesticides. Bees are taken across the country to pollinate crops. This frequent movement upsets the bees and may be causing them to die. Climate change is making some places less or more hospitable. Pesticides given to seeds can go to thee pollen of plants and bees and it may kill them. Unfortunately, the pesticide known to cause this problem is still the safest pesticide available, meaning that it wont be replaced anytime soon. Scientist are not to afraid that ccd will directly eradicate all bees but ccd is still a huge threat. Bee keepers may get frustrated that these bees are dying and choose not to continue bee keeping. Without bees, many plants will suffer and go extinct. Then many animals will go extinct. Do not let these magnificent creatures go extinct. Bee-come a bee keeper and bee a saver of the bees.
The curve fits showed us about where the bee population will be in a few years. We saw that generally, the exponential line fit closest to the results and allowed for fairly accurate prediction.
